Details
Cost: $15 entry, free for players under 18. If the fee is a hardship, pay what you can; no US Chess member is turned away.
Time control: 30 minutes + 30 seconds per move.
A Halloween arena tournament at classical speed. Play as many games as you can between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM. The faster you finish, the more games you get.
How it works
- When your game ends, report your result and you'll be paired with the next free player.
- Win = 2 points, draw = 1, loss = 0.
- Possessed: after two wins in a row, each further win is worth 3 points until you lose or draw.
- Blood Pact: before a game, halve your clock and increment to 15 minutes + 15 seconds per move. Win and you get a bonus point, as long as your opponent kept the full 30 + 30.
- You won't face the same opponent twice in a row.
- No new games start after 5:30 PM. Games in progress finish and count.
- Most points wins.
Come for the whole day or drop in for a few games. Take a break whenever you like; just stay out of the queue until you're back.
