Privacy

What the Larimer County Chess Club collects when you register for a club event, what it publishes, and what it keeps private.

What you give us

To register online, you give a US Chess ID, a last name, and an email address. For a player under 18, use a parent’s or guardian’s email. At the event, a tournament director may add a phone number and records whether and how you paid.

What we look up

From your US Chess ID, the club gets your name, ratings, and membership expiration from US Chess. US Chess also tells us whether you are under 18 or 65 or older on the event’s date, which sets your fee. The club keeps that category, not your birth date.

What we publish

Entry lists, pairings, standings, and results show each player’s name, US Chess ID, rating, section, and game results, for every player, including players under 18. That is the same information US Chess publishes in its crosstables once it rates an event, and rated results stay on this site as part of the club’s record.

We never publish email addresses, phone numbers, fees or payments, age categories, or tournament directors’ incident records.

Who sees the rest, and why

The club’s officers and tournament directors see what you give us, in the club’s Google account. We use your email to confirm your entry, with the amount due and a link to withdraw, and to tell you about that event. We send rated results to US Chess, as every affiliate must. We don’t sell your information or give it to anyone else.

On your device

“Remember this player on this device” keeps the US Chess ID, last name, and email in your browser, so the form is filled in next time. It is sent only when you use it, to register or to switch a club night to its whole month. Uncheck it on a shared computer; clearing the site’s data in your browser removes it.

This site has no ads, analytics, or tracking cookies. It is hosted by GitHub, which may log visitors’ IP addresses for security, as its privacy statement (opens in a new tab) describes.

How long we keep it

Contact information: while you take part, and two years after. Tournament records that US Chess doesn’t keep: three years. Incident records under the club’s Safe Play policy: permanently.

Questions and changes

Email president@larimerchess.org to see, correct, or delete your contact information, or with any question. Withdrawing from an event takes you off its entry list.
